Political party representatives criticized IGP Mahinda Balasuriya in front of Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake today, for the police’s failure to remove all unlawful cut-outs, posters and banners.

However, the IGP who grew visibly angry to the accusations said that the police were facing difficulties in removing such cut-outs and posters due to pressure by candidates. He added that the police had so far removed 112 kilos of political flags, 28,390 posters, 11,092 banners and   another 1665 posters pasted on vehicles.
